League is getting tougher - Osman

Leon Osman
Osman believes the standard of the Premier League is improving

Everton midfielder Leon Osman believes the Premier League is much more competitive this season.

A 1-1 draw with Stoke on Sunday, in which Osman scored, brought the Blues' five-match winning streak to an end.

"I think every game in the Premier League is a winnable game now, the way things are," the 28-year-old told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"It's not a given you're going to win, you need to work hard. Stoke were a very determined side and played well."

Everton's recent winning run had come across all competitions, with two victories in the Premier League, two in the Europa League and one in the Carling Cup.

And Osman admitted Stoke made it hard for them in their quest to make it six straight wins.

"They came to Goodison and set their stall out and made sure they were determined not to get beat and they proved very difficult to break down," said Osman.

"We scored one goal, possibly could have scored another couple but it's disappointing we couldn't win."

Osman said his 55th minute equaliser against the Potters was something he had been trying to pull off throughout the game.

"I cut in a couple of minutes before and mis-hit it, it seemed to bobble up as I hit it," he added.

"I was hoping I'd get another opportunity to put that right."
