Fellaini now flying says Cahill

Marouane Fellaini
Fellaini has played eight Premier League games for Everton

Everton's Tim Cahill has welcomed team-mate Marouane Fellaini's emergence as a fellow midfield goalscorer.

The Belgium international has now scored three goals since joining from Standard Liege in the summer for 15m.

"I'm all for it, I think the best thing for me is to welcome players like that with open arms," the Australian told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"I'm happy for him because with a price tag like that people expect him to come in and do things straight away."

According to manager David Moyes the 20-year-old Belgian international speaks little English.

The Scot also believes the tall midfielder has struggled to adapt to the pace of English football.

Our aspiration is to finish in the top eight and then build on it

Cahill said he agrees with his manager and believes his team-mates must take some responsibility in helping Fellaini fit in.

"It's up to us as lads to help him settle and make sure he scores more goals."

Everton have risen up the Premier League table in recent weeks following wins against Bolton, Fulham and West Ham.

And Cahill added: "Our aspiration is to finish in the top eight and then build on it.

"The sooner we get near to the top of the table then anything can happen because as you can see everyone is beating everyone.

"I feel that everyone wants to win something and everyone wants to do well, anywhere in the top eight in the next three to four months, then anything can happen."
