Everton boss David Moyes is close to agreeing a new five-year contract with the Merseyside club worth more than £17m, BBC Sport understands.
The 45-year-old Moyes, who has 12 months left on his current deal, confirmed in July he had opened talks with chairman Bill Kenwright.
The Scot is expected to sign before the Liverpool derby on 27 September.
Moyes told BBC Sport: "The club have got the contract and hopefully we will get something done shortly."
Moyes, who joined Everton from Preston in 2002 and has twice guided Everton to the Uefa Cup as well as the Champions League qualifying stages, has been linked with the vacant manager's job at Newcastle.
His current deal is believed to be worth about £1.5m a year.
Earlier this week Moyes was charged with improper conduct by the Football Association after being sent to the stands during Sunday's 3-2 win against Stoke.
