McFadden extends Everton contract
James McFadden in action for Everton

Everton forward James McFadden has signed a new four-year deal with the club, ending speculation about the Scotland international's future.

The 23-year-old, who had one year of his previous deal to run, had called off talks with Everton at the end of last season.

"It's good that it's sorted," McFadden told Everton's official website.

"I've always wanted to stay and that's finalised now and hopefully I can get on with my football at Everton."

McFadden, who has 23 Scotland caps, joined Everton from Motherwell for 1.25m in September 2003.

"Every time the transfer window opens there's speculation that I'm going somewhere but I'm quite happy now," added McFadden.

"I hope I can break into the team. Andy Johnson has come in and done really well - he looks sharp and can score goals.

"Hopefully I can get in, I want to be in the team and I don't mind who I'm alongside as long as I'm playing."

McFadden has scored 10 goals for Everton.
