Tottenham striker Robbie Keane is understood to head the list of strikers that Everton boss David Moyes wants to sign before the transfer window closes.
A new striker is Moyes' top priority and he was understood to be in London on Monday pursuing potential signings.
Republic of Ireland international Keane, 25, joined Spurs for £7m in August 2002 but has not been a regular starter at White Hart Lane this season.
Jermain Defoe and Mido have been Martin Jol's first-choice pair.
However, Mido's red card against Chelsea on Saturday means the Egypt international will miss three games through suspension.
