Moyes lauds Everton effort

MOYES'S VIEW
Everton boss David Moyes praised his players after their 1-0 win over Middlesbrough moved them into third place in the Premiership table.

"A lot of people probably thought we'd be third from the bottom rather than third from the top," said Moyes.

"We're not getting carried away - we know we face a long, hard season but the players are doing really well.

"They're showing a terrific attitude - we might not have the best players but honesty and commitment go a long way."

Moyes added: "I thought we deserved the victory. We played very well in the first half and it was only really the last 20 minutes that we came under pressure.

"It was important that everybody got behind the ball and made us hard to break down and the players did that.

"Football can change very quickly but we want to stay up there for as long as we can."
