Rooney rejects Chelsea rumours
Wayne Rooney
Everton striker Wayne Rooney has laughed off speculation that he is set to join Chelsea.

The 18-year-old had been singled out as a potential target for Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, but insists he is staying at Goodison Park.

"I am happy to be at Everton," Rooney told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper.

"I have only just signed a new contract, so I'm not interested in any other club.

"I am not interested in anything Chelsea have to say.

"When the stories with Chelsea were in the papers, I just started laughing because I knew it was all speculation."

I think we can qualify for Europe if we play as well as we can
Rooney on Everton
Speaking after the defeat to Chelsea on Saturday, the England striker said he believes he can experience European football with Everton.

"Going away with England has helped my game," he said.

"International football is a completely different standard.

"Most of the players involved with England have played in the Champions League or in Europe with their clubs.

"They have got that experience and that has made me hungry for similar experiences with Everton.

"I think we can qualify for Europe if we play as well as we can."
