Blomqvist leaves Everton
Blomqvist must seek pastures new after Everton
Everton have told Jesper Blomqvist he has no future at the club - but may attempt lure Derby County goalkeeper Mart Poom to Goodison Park.

Boss David Moyes has left the 28-year-old winger bitterly disappointed after he also suffered the setback of being left out of Sweden's World Cup squad.

Former manager Walter Smith signed Blomqvist after he was released by Manchester United in the wake of two years of knee injuries, but now follows David Ginola and Alec Cleland out of Everton.

Blomqvist had regained his fitness and showed flashes of his old form in 17 Everton appearances, during which he scored one goal.

The arrival of Moyes in March put his future under a cloud, and the manager delivered a public rebuke to Blomqvist when he reacted angrily to being substituted against Bolton Wanderers.

Everton boss Moyes will watch Poom
Everton boss Moyes told the club's official website, evertonfc.tv: "It was a very difficult decision because I felt Jesper Blomqvist had a made a contribution since my arrival.

"But I have Idan Tal, Mark Pembridge, David Unsworth and Kevin McLeod who are all comfortable on that side that of the field.

"Everyone at Everton Football Club wishes Jesper Blomqvist all the very best for the future."

Blomqvist, who has previously played at IFK Gothenburg, AC Milan and Parma, will now spend his summer searching for a new club as he looks ahead to the next stage of his stop-start career.

Moyes, meanwhile, is expected to travel to Poland to watch Poom in action for Estonia in a friendly.

He has made the signing of a top-class goalkeeper his priority, and Derby's £4m-rated Poom may be an option after the Rams' relegation.
