Everton clinch Linderoth deal
Tobias Linderoth is a powerful, combative midfielder
Linderoth is an established Swedish international
Everton have completed the signing of Swedish international Tobias Linderoth from Norwegian club Stabaek.

Walter Smith has signed the 22-year-old midfielder in a 2.5m deal.

Linderoth has been capped 15 times by his country and played in Sweden's friendly against England in November 2001.

I think he will be very good in England
Stabaek general manager Tom Scolelvrn
Linderoth is a combative, powerful midfielder and is considered well-suited to the English game.

Stabaek general manager Tom Scolelvrn said: "He is a player for the future but he is definitely good enough to play for Everton at the moment.

"He has played the last eight games for Sweden and has taken Stefan Schwarz's place in the team. I think he will be very good in England."

Linderoth, who was recently reported to be on the move to Greek side Panathinaikos, will team up at Everton with fellow Swedish internationals Jesper Blomqvist and Niclas Alexandersson.

Smith, who was without seven first-team players for the goalless draw at Aston Villa on Wednesday, was keen to move quickly after losing Abel Xavier to Liverpool in an 800,000 deal.

Last week the Everton board promised manager Walter Smith more cash for new players.
