Everton striker Francis Jeffers will be out of action for six weeks after undergoing an ankle operation.

The teenager has already been out for more than two months following ankle ligament damage suffered during the Worthington Cup tie at Bristol Rovers in September.

A piece of floating bone in the same joint has now been removed.

Goodison boss Walter Smith could be forced into the transfer market with Danny Cadamarteri and Joe-Max Moore his only fit strikers.

However, Smith has denied he is chasing St Johnstone youngster Keigan Parker, despite making the trip to watch their game at Dundee on Saturday.

Smith also discounted suggestions he is chasing Hearts midfielder Colin Cameron.
