Shire's McInally takes boss prize

East Stirlingshire's Jim McInally has won the Third Division manager of the month award for September.

McInally was awarded the Irn-Bru Phenomenal award after his side won three matches and drew one.

Those results lifted the Falkirk side, who are sharing Stenhousmuir's Ochilview this season, into the promotion race.

However, they lost their first match during October, Albion Rovers' 3-0 win putting the Coatbridge side on top.

Shire presently sit second, two points behind the leaders.

McInally's side have had a controversial start to the season.

Their opening league game was called off when Livingston refused to play as they awaited their appeal against being demoted to Division Three for breaching insolvency rules last term.

That match was re-arranged for the end of September, with Shire threatening to boycott it themselves unless they received compensation for the first game.

Shire eventually relented and won the match 3-1.

In between those two games, McInally was handed a 12-match touchline ban and a £1000 fine for a touchline argument last season, with the manager threatening to take the Scottish FA to court.
