Brian Ross has become the new manager of Third Division East Stirlingshire.

Ross has been assistant to George Fairley, who quit last week to become Clyde's general manager.

Shire chief executive Les Thomson told the Sun: "Brian gives us the continuity we need."

Ross played for Airdrieonians, Ayr United and East Stirlingshire.

He said: "It will be 10 years in March since I first came to this club as a player.

"I am delighted to get the chance to take over as manager."
