Dunfermline take striker on trial

Dunfermline Athletic FC

Dunfermline have taken the German striker Joseph Laumann on trial to their training camp in Austria.

Laumann, 24, has Bundesliga experience with Schalke 04 and has been playing with Rot-Weiss Erfurt in Germany.

Manager Jim McIntyre told the club's website that he is keen to look at new players with a friendly on Wednesday against Romania's FC Timisoara.

"We will have a look at him as we need to sign two strikers. We need a midfielder as well," he said.

Iain Williamson's hopes of featuring suffered a blow when he took ill.

And Calum Woods (groin), Graeme Holmes (hamstring) and Stuart Dearden (ligament) all missed training as precautions.

"Not having a big squad means that if the boys do start to feel twinges when they are worked hard then they have a responsibility to stop," said McIntyre.

"It's just being clever and professional about it. The ones we have seen are just small niggly ones, the type you get in pre-season all the time."
