Young pens new Dunfermline deal
Dunfermline's Darren Young celebrates his CIS Cup semi-final winner
Young has been out injured since February
Dunfermline midfielder Darren Young has signed a new two-year deal.

The 27-year-old joined the Pars from Aberdeen in July 2003 along with brother, Derek, who was released at the end of this season.

"I am looking forward to next season and hoping to play better than I did last season," he told the club website.

"I'd like to start scoring a few goals like I was doing last season before I got injured. I will be looking to add that to my game."

Young's season finished at the end of February after a foot injury but he aims to be fit for pre-season training.

The last couple of years have been a bit up and down, to say the least

"The Manager and coaching staff knew at the start of last season that the squad wasn't big enough and then we went into a horrendous run of injuries," he added.

"We were hardly able to pick the same team for two weeks in a row.

"He brought in a few players, made the squad bigger and got more experienced players and hopefully they can add to that in the summer.

"The last couple of years have been a bit up and down, to say the least.

"I've been to two cup finals, played in Europe and helped the club finish in their highest ever position in the SPL.

"Coupled with that we were nearly relegated and almost went into administration, so it's been pretty exciting."
