Striker Jim Hamilton has relinquished his professional status in order to win a move to Dunfermline.
Hamilton will not receive a wage at Dunfermline
In order to circumvent the complex transfer regulations, the former Dundee United forward has signed on at East End Park until the end of the season as an amateur.
Hamilton was released from his contract at Tannadice earlier this month and, under the new the transfer window system, is not entitled to sign for another Scottish club until the campaign is over.
However, if the player is not receiving a wage, then the rules do not apply.
Therefore, Hamilton is effectively playing for nothing but expenses to earn a deal for next season.
The 27-year-old, who has also had spells at Hearts and Aberdeen, scored just five goals for United this term.
