Russell has scored three goals for United this season
Dundee United striker Johnny Russell has signed a contract extension to keep him at Tannadice until May 2014.
The 20-year-old made his debut in May 2007 but has only become a regular for United during this campaign.
"He has made a big impression since breaking into the first team," said United boss Peter Houston.
"I am now looking for him to continue the hard work to ensure he adds consistency to his game and continues to improve."
Since breaking through at United as a teenager, Russell has honed his skills during loan spells at Forfar and Raith Rovers.
And this season he has found the net three times for Houston.
The manager added on the
"It's great to see yet another young and improving player who wants to remain at the club longer term and once again, it shows the club's emphasis on nurturing and utilising its own youth system products."
