Casalinuovo scored both of United's goals at Rugby Park

Damian Casalinuovo believes Dundee United are capable of sustaining their good start to the season.

"If we focus on every game, we can win most of them," the Argentine striker told BBC Scotland after his brace had secured a 2-0 win at Kilmarnock.

"At the end of the season we will see about the table because it's really hard to be regular and keep up with Celtic and Rangers.

"But definitely we can see something different from the last few years."

Casalinuovo has scored three goals for United since arriving at Tannadice in the summer and the 22-year-old is enjoying his first taste of Scottish football.

"I really like it," he explained. "It's fast and strong and it suits my game.

"I'm playing well and it's really important for a striker to be confident and scoring goals.

"I feel good and we have a lot of good players in the squad."

Dundee United have lost just one of their opening 10 matches in the Scottish Premier League and sit five points off top spot, having played one game less than leaders Celtic.

That game in hand is December's rescheduled clash with Rangers after the recent fixture was abandoned at half-time, with United trailing 1-0 in the torrential Tayside rain.

Rather than being relieved at the call-off, Casalinuovo said the home players were disappointed not to have had the opportunity to hit back at the reigning Scottish champions.

"When the gaffer said the game was abandoned, we were sad because we were playing at a great level," he said.

"We thought, if we played the second half, we could change the result.

"Rangers are in the Champions League and we put on a great performance, in conditions that were not perfect."

After two early outings for United, Casalinuovo made three appearances on loan at Raith Rovers but was recalled after scoring twice for the First Division side.
