Dundee United forward Danny Cadamarteri has been named player of the month for August in the Scottish Premier League.

The 29-year-old received his Clydesdale Bank award after a fine start to the season with his new club.

Cadamarteri, who signed at Tannadice after leaving Huddersfield Town this summer, has scored three goals in three games for Craig Levein's side.

He scored both goals in his competitive debut against Hearts and another in a 2-1 win over Falkirk.

United ended August in third place in the SPL, two points behind Rangers and Celtic.

Cadamarteri began his career with Everton before departing for the first of two spells with hometown club Bradford City.

He also played for Leeds United, Sheffield United, Grays Athletic, Leicester City and Doncaster Rovers and had a loan spell with Fulham while at Everton.
