Sandaza ignores Spanish interest

Dundee United striker Francisco Sandaza
Sandaza is turning heads in his native Spain

Dundee United top-scorer Francisco Sandaza claims he is being tracked by clubs in his native Spain.

However, the 24-year-old, who joined United from Valencia last summer, has no intention of quitting Tannadice.

"Clubs in Spain want me but they will have to wait as now I'm only thinking about Dundee United," said the striker.

"They gave me an opportunity to play and I'm very grateful to Craig Levein for that. He gave me the chance to be a footballer again."

Sandaza signed a three-year contract with the Scottish Premier League club at a time when he was only able to feature for Valencia's second string side.

Before arriving in Scotland he was even making plans to quit the game and become a policeman.

But in the City of Discovery he has found a new lease of life, scoring 10 goals for the Terrors as they aim to secure European football for next season.

That form has put him on the radars of clubs in Spain, although he admits he is content at United for the time being.

"I have noticed there is much more interest in me back home now," said Sandaza.

"A lot of journalists call me up and tell me how well I'm doing in Scotland.

"I don't want to think too much about my future. It's bad for concentration."
