Levein salutes United's progress

Dundee United manager Craig Levein
Levein said his players were becoming a stronger outfit

Dundee United manager Craig Levein hailed his players after the "fantastic" 3-3 draw with Rangers.

"I thought we were the better team but Rangers were clinical in their finishing and they were a threat at set pieces," he told BBC Sport.

"But in open play that's as good as we've played in a while.

"We passed the ball well and were brave in possession. We created chance after chance. We play as well as that and Rangers still pegged us back."

Levein said he was delighted at the way his players were gelling this season.

"The longer we go together the better we become," he added.

"We passed the ball to death at times in midfield.

"We were opening Rangers up but maybe just lacked that bit of composure in the first half in front of goal.

"Although we drew the game and lost three goals, give me this any time rather than a boring 0-0."
