Robson delight over Celtic switch
Barry Robson
Robson says he has yet to reach his peak as a player
Barry Robson says his best years are ahead of him after completing his 1m move to Celtic.

Speaking after sealing his switch from Dundee United, the midfielder said he aimed to force his way into manager Gordon Strachan's first-team.

"Celtic says it all, the size of the club, the competitions you are playing in. I just want to be part of it," the 29-year-old said.

"I feel as though my best years are ahead of me."

Robson, who is cup-tied and will miss making his debut against Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup on Saturday, has signed a contract until 2011.

"I feel as though my best years are ahead of me, every pre-season I come back feeling fitter and stronger," he said.

"I am looking forward to the next three-and-a-half years - I feel my body is getting stronger as I go along."

Robson said he hoped his versatility would help him to force his way into the first-team.

"I think I can play centre, left or right, I'm comfortable playing any of them," he said.

"If I get the chance and do the business, I will stay in the side, it is the same at any club.

"But I am under no illusions, I know how good Aiden McGeady, Shunsuke Nakamura, Paul Hartley, Scott Brown are from playing against them."

The former Rangers player - who scored 12 goals for United this season - had also been the subject of a similar bid from Nottingham Forest this week.

But the midfielder, who began his career at Ibrox before moving to Inverness Caledonian Thistle, opted to join Celtic.
