Dundee United manager Craig Levein defended the officials for ruling out what may have been a Motherwell winner.
"Let's forget about everything else, the decision was 100% right. He was a mile offside," said Levein.
"So whatever anybody's arguments are the facts are that the referee and the assistant got the decision right.
"The problem was that the assistant was looking along the line when the ball was played and he didn't see Clarkson's flick and he admitted that himself."
