Awardee Mulgrew backing Brewster
Charlie Mulgrew with his award
Charlie Mulgrew is young player of the month in the SPL
Left-back Charlie Mulgrew celebrated his SPL young player of the month award by backed Dundee United manager Craig Brewster to turn the club around.

Brewster has yet to record a win in his seven matches in charge.

But Mulgrew, on loan from Celtic, said: "The gaffer has come in and changed the training round a bit.

"He's very big on double sessions, but they are always enjoyable. Obviously, we are desperate to get that first win under him and hope it comes soon."

Facing bottom side Livingston gives United a great chance at the weekend, but Mulgrew will miss that game.
I feel like I've improved a lot already

The 19-year-old has been missing for two weeks with a cartilage problem and will be on the sidelines for another fortnight at least.

But, until the injury, Mulgrew was earning such rave reviews that commentators were questioning Celtic manager Gordon Strachan's decision not to keep him at Celtic Park.

"This move has gone well for me - apart from the injury - and I feel like I've improved a lot already," said, who scored with two stunning free-kicks against Inverness Caley Thistle.

"My knee is feeling okay and I think I'll be back in two to three weeks.

"The physio told me it's going to be nearer three, but I'm determined to prove him wrong.

"It's hard watching from the sidelines because I'd developed a real taste for playing in the SPL, but there's nothing you can do about injuries. I'm just glad it wasn't worse."

United are keen to keep Mulgrew beyond the loan period, but his performances while at Tannadice are likely to ensure his return to Celtic at the end of the season.
