Trinidad and Tobago international striker Jason Scotland is set to join compatriot Collin Samuel at Dundee United after both were granted work permits.

Samuel joined United last week from Falkirk and the formalities of a work permit were completed at a hearing on Tuesday, where Scotland was also given the all-clear to complete his move to Tannadice.

Scotland admitted that the news had come as a surprise after an initial permit application had failed.

He told the Trinidad Express: "I'm delighted to get this chance now.

"For a long time I've been wanting a move like this and now it's just a matter of time before I settle in.

"The coach likes what he has been seeing and they actually feel here that myself and Collin can be the top two strikers in Dundee. Now it's just a matter of us proving ourselves."

Both players were included in the party for United's trip to Germany and Austria.

Ian McCall's men are in action on Thursday against second division side Wacker Burghausen.
