Cummings in Tayside move
Chelsea defender Warren Cummings is poised to join Dundee United on loan.

But United's Stephen McConalogue has left the Tannadice club on loan to First Division Clyde for the rest of the season.

He is joined on the Broadwood books by former Celtic goalkeeper Alan Morrison.

Aberdeen-born 21-year-old Cummings earned his first Scotland cap against a Hong Kong XI during the end-of-season tour to the Far East.

But the former Scotland Under-21 regular has yet to break into the first-team at the English Premiership club he joined as a trainee.

But United boss Alex Smith said: "He has played around 10 or a dozen times for the Under-21's and featured in four or five of Chelsea's games in pre-season.

"Berti Vogts took him to the Far East with Scotland during the summer, so he is one with a very bright future.

"Now that he will be getting the chance of regular first-team football with us, it has to be good news for the national team as well."

Cummings played 16 times, mainly as a substitute, for West Bromwich Albion as they won promotion from the First Division last season.

It was his second spell on loan with the Midlands club, having previously been farmed out to Bournemouth.

Cummings was at Tannadice on Friday morning to complete the necessary paperwork and United hoped he would be signed in time to face Motherwell on Saturday.

Stephen McConalogue
McConalogue was a top schoolboy scorer
Pacey 21-year-old McConalogue has made a number of first-team appearances but has been out of the picture this season.

Clyde boss Alan Kernaghan told his club's website: "Stephen has been brought in to try and get us goals and he will feature at some stage tomorrow."

McConalogue is the all-time top scorer for Scotland Schools and had a brief loan spell at Morton last season.

Morrison impressed Kernaghan during a trial period and has now signed a one-year contract.

Former Ayr United midfielder Neil Scally has left Broadwood without winning a permanent deal.
