Ayr end Boyack's Dens nightmare

Dundee midfielder Steven Boyack has ended his Dens Park nightmare after signing for Ayr United until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old former Rangers and Hull City player had been perhaps Dundee's top performer last season under manager Jocky Scott and a big-money move had been anticipated for the player.

However, with his contract up at the end of the current campaign, he was almost immediately frozen out by Scott's successor, Ivano Bonetti.

Now Boyack hopes that the transfer will provide him with the platform to win a move to a bigger club.

Shop window

Recently, Boyack told BBC Scotland of his desperation to play again after being forced to train with the Dundee reserves but insisted that he would not go on trial to another club.

However, Boyack's agent, Kenny Moyes, said on Friday: "Steven now has the chance to put himself in the shop window."

While Bonetti insists that he has no personal problem with Boyack and believes him to be a good player, he has shown no signs of changing his decision to leave him out of his first-team plans.

Boyack has even claimed that Bonetti had not taken time to explain his decision, although there is speculation that the club wished to force him to sign for another club before the end of his contract to avoid losing him without a transfer fee being paid.

Meanwhile, Dundee, who already have defender Craig Ireland on loan at Airdrieonians, have also farmed out 21-year-old forward Graham Bayne to his home town club, Raith Rovers, along with Goran Zujovic.
