Former Celtic general manager Jock Brown will not be replacing Bob Brannan as chairman of Dundee.

The 64-year-old lawyer, who worked with Fergus McCann at Celtic in the late 1990s, was a guest at Dens Park for Saturday's match against Falkirk.

However, the First Division club have had a change of heart on the immediate appointment of a chairman.

Brannan will continue to serve on the board, with commercial director Harry MacLean becoming chief executive.

Dundee no longer feel that there is any immediate pressure to appoint a new chairman and will make an interim appointment at the next board meeting in mid-September.

Brown, the brother of Motherwell boss Craig, helped to appoint managers Wim Jansen and Jo Venglos at Celtic.

He resigned in 1998 after a dispute over bonus payments.
