MacKinnon steps down at Dens Park

MacKinnon has been central to recent developments at Dens Park

Dundee chief executive Dave MacKinnon has confirmed his resignation and will leave Dens Park at the end of November.

MacKinnon has been in the role for two and a half years.

"I'm proud that I have played a part in what has been a very important period for the ongoing wellbeing of Dundee Football Club," he said.

"My position has been on a consultancy basis, and since day one I have been looking at ways to develop staff within the club to fill my responsibilities."

Last month, Jocky Scott returned as manager at Dundee for the third time and MacKinnon is confident that the First Division club is in good hands.

"With the appointment of Jocky Scott, the board now have someone with the experience, contacts and knowledge to take on the running of all football related matters," he continued.

"I therefore have advised the board that for the moment there is no longer a requirement for a chief executive or indeed the cost of one and I'm sure my departure will free up some money to be diverted to the player budget."

Chairman Bob Brannan was quick to praise MacKinnon's contribution.

"David has done a brilliant job in his time at Dens," he said. "I really don't know how we would have survived the last few years without him.

"His contribution in every area of the club's activities from income generation to recruiting players to dealing with the football authorities and the press has been enormous.

"The commitment, enthusiasm, optimism, knowledge and skill he has brought have helped us through many difficult situations.

"I and the rest of the board members will miss him greatly. However, I'm comforted in the knowledge that I know he will always be there to help when we need him."
