Dundee have signed Slovenian Jani Sturm on a one-year deal after the player agreed terms for a move to Dens Park.
Jani Sturm has joined the Dens Park club
The Tayside club fought off competition from Morton and Gretna to land the striker, who previously played for Slovenian champions ND Gorica.
Dundee manager Alex Rae said: "We are trying to build something here and his decision shows he recognises that.
"I'm pleased to get him because he's an intelligent striker who can run in behind defences."
Sturm is Rae's eight summer signing and, according to the club's website, signals the end of the club's spending before the new season.
I'm looking forward to seeing Jani alongside big Jan Zemlik
Dundee chief executive
Rae and chief executive Dave McKinnon watched the Slovenian when he was on trial at Morton before offering him a contract.
The pair discussed plans for the club's promotion bid in a meeting with Sturm on Tuesday and explained the role he could play.
MacKinnon said: "We spent three hours with him and he seemed interested in how we were going to play and what we felt would be his role in that.
"Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing him alongside big Jan (Zemlik).
"Jani is quick and gets in behind defences and we've already seen that Zemlik is good at linking up with his fellow striker, so I think they are potentially a good partnership."
McKinnon added: "We knew he'd spoken to other clubs but once we'd outlined how he could fit in here he was keen to come to Dens."
