Artero admitted to hospital
Javier Artero was a regular last year with Dundee
Dundee midfielder Javier Artero has been admitted to hospital with an as-yet unknown illness.
The 26-year-old Spaniard missed the opening game of the season against Dundee United after feeling unwell, though he played in the Intertoto Cup matches against Sartid. A statement from Dundee confirmed that Artero was undergoing medical tests at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. It read: "While his condition is giving cause for concern, it must be stressed that doctors have made no diagnosis of his condition at this early stage and it will be a number of days until test results are available. "Javier is comfortable, in good spirits and is grateful for the many goodwill messages that the club has already received on his behalf from Dundee fans and other members of the public. "Understandably, this is an uncertain time for Javier and his family. Dundee Football Club requests that people, including members of the Press, respect the family's privacy. "Javier is a popular and important member of our family at Dundee Football Club. All our thoughts are with Javier, his wife Debora and their family at this time."
