Dover appoint Walker
Nationwide Conference strugglers Dover Athletic have replaced sacked Neville Southall as manager and appointed Clive Walker as his successor.
Southall, the former Everton and Wales goalkeeper, was dismissed by the club's new board on Wednesday. Walker has been with Dover for five years, mostly as assistant manager to Bill Williams. But he had a short spell as caretaker manager in December and was assistant to Southall. He has also managed Northampton Town and Kettering Town and runs a summer coaching academy in America. Southall had only been with the Whites since December but the team are currently bottom of the Nationwide Conference, two points adrift of second-bottom Hayes. Chairman Gordon Cowan has also been replaced. But a Supporters' Trust spokesman said: "I don't believe this is a good time of the season to sack a manager."
