Martis makes Doncaster loan move

Martis goes straight into the Doncaster squad to face Swansea

Doncaster Rovers have completed the signing of West Bromwich Albion defender Shelton Martis on a one-month loan deal.

The 25-year-old, who started his career in Holland with Excelsior Rotterdam, could make his debut against Swansea.

Martis told the club website he had not hesitation in joining Rovers after meeting manager Sean O'Driscoll.

"After speaking to him, the decision to come here on loan was very easy. I hope I can do well," he said.

The Netherlands Antilles international joined PSV Eindhoven from Excelsior and moved to Britain to join Darlington in 2005.

After scoring two goals in 42 league appearances for the Quakers he moved to Hibernian, before joining West Brom last summer.

"I've got a good spring, I am quick, and I can pass the ball," added Martis, who has struggled to make an impact at The Hawthorns.

"I feel that I have good composure and I love to play football. I feel that I can play good balls into the strikers and hope that I can create chances for them.

"There is a chance I will be thrown in at the deep end, but that is the gaffer's choice and if he needs me, I am ready."
