Derby County owners remain committed - Tom Glick

We certainly know we need some attacking options

Derby County chief executive Tom Glick insists the club's owners are committed to investing in the squad despite failing to sign anyone in January.

The Rams missed out on strikers Martyn Waghorn and Conor Sammon while top scorer Kris Commons joined Celtic.

"I am personally disappointed that I was not able to deliver - in this transfer window - a couple of attacking options," Glick told BBC Radio Derby.

"We will have to get that business done on when the emergency window opens."

The Rams also sold defender Dean Moxey to Crystal Palace on deadline day and around 200 fans took the opportunity to vent their anger with a protest at the club's lack of new faces before Tuesday's home game against Ipswich Town - a match which brought their ninth defeat in a miserable eleven-game run.

"We understand that they [the fans] are not happy," Glick added.

"They are the lifeblood of the club and they are completely allowed to express their opinion however they choose to do so.

"They are disappointed because we are getting bad results.

"But my message would be that we are committed to winning, are committed to this manager and his staff and his squad. We are not happy with the results and are on a bad run right know and we know that the squad needs to be added to.

"We definitely want to get the right players and we thought that, at the end of the window, we would have a couple of strikers in. Ultimately we have failed to do that due to various circumstances.

"I wish we have been successful because we were excited about the two players [Martyn Waghorn and Conor Sammon] we were specifically looking to bring in.

"We certainly know we need some attacking options to help give some additional lift to the squad.

"We are committed to doing that but we have to get back to work this week to be able to pounce when the window re-opens on 8 February.

"We have been selective and ultimately we haven't found the player we felt had the right valuation that could help us. We have made use of some loans but we are aware we need to add and are prepared to add."
