Derby County are monitoring Kilmarnock striker Conor Sammon but have not made an offer, BBC Radio Derby understands.
Last week Killie accepted a bid from Scunthorpe United, but the 24-year-old turned down a move to Glanford Park.
However, the Rams may be tempted to test the resolve of Sammon and Killie by following up their interest now that Kris Commons has joined Celtic.
Sammon moved to Rugby Park in the summer of 2008 and has scored 17 goals in 26 games so far this season.
Kilmarnock manager Mixu Paatelainen was delighted when his top scorer decided against a move to Scunthorpe but conceded he may yet lose the Irishman.
"There has been some contact with the club from down south regarding Conor Sammon," he told BBC Scotland.
"But nothing has been agreed and Conor has not had talks with anyone.
"I've made sure he is not going anywhere before Saturday and he will be available to us.
"What happens after that, I don't know.
"If something happens Sunday, Monday, it leaves me little time to replace him."
