Derby County new-boy Danny Higginbotham will be a big hit at the club, according to his old Manchester United team-mate Denis Irwin.

The 21-year-old left-back has moved to Pride Park in a 1.5m deal.

He was struggling to break into the first-team at Old Trafford with both Irwin and England international Phil Neville ahead of him in the pecking order.

Irwin said: "Danny felt he's going to get a first-team opportunity straight away at Derby.

"He probably felt it was the right time to go and I am sure he will do a good job," added Irwin.
