We need to get form back - Jewell

Derby County manager Paul Jewell wants his side to get back to basics in a bid to revive their league form.

The Rams are through to a Carling Cup semi-final against Manchester United thanks to last week's win at Stoke.

But Saturday's home reverse to Crystal Palace was their second league defeat in as many games. And Jewell admitted: "We've lost our way in the league.

"We need to get back quickly. It is worrying. We move forward and take two steps back," he told BBC Radio Derby.

"Our squad isn't strong enough with all the injuries. The inconsistency is unbelievable at the moment.

"The players when we get them fit are a decent side but we just can't get the XI on the park."

Derby's next test on Tuesday night is a daunting one, away to Championship leaders Wolves. But the Rams can at least be comforted by their results on their last two trips to Molineux.

After drawing 1-1 there in October 2005, they went one better 11 months later, Steve Howard scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win against Mick McCarthy's men.
