Gregory charged by FA
John Gregory
Gregory must now answer the FA charges
Derby manager John Gregory has been charged by the FA with using abusive or insulting language to a match official.

Gregory clashed with fourth official Steve Tomlinson during Derby's 6-2 drubbing at the hands of Portsmouth earlier this month.

The Rams boss, known for having a short fuse, was already incensed with his side's poor display on the pitch.

But his temper boiled over when he protested that Derby should have been awarded a throw-in.

Gregory vociferously appealed to Tomlinson who informed referee Clive Penton.

The former Aston Villa boss was then sent from the dug out and watched the remainder of the games from the stands.

He told the club's website after the match he felt he had been unfairly treated.

"The fourth official was over-zealous from the first minute," he said.

"He reported me to the ref and got me dispatched, even though the home team seemed to be able to stand up and do what they wanted."

Gregory now has 14 days to answer the FA's charges.
