Eranio returns to Derby
Stefano Eranio
Stefano Eranio (r) wants to finish his career at Derby
Stefano Eranio has rejoined Derby just two months after he left the club to go back to Italy.

The midfielder has signed a one-year deal and is expected to be reunited with his team-mates on the pre-season tour of Estonia and Finland.

The former Genoa and AC Milan player made an emotional farewell to the fans at the end of last season but has found it hard to stay away from the Midlands club.

"I have played at some of the world's biggest clubs but I never felt more at home than with Derby, he said.

"I love the fans and I cannot think of anything better than returning to finish my career here."

Eranio had been scouting for talent in Italy for Derby manager Jim Smith.

And it was the Rams' failure to find a replacement for him that paved the way for his second spell at the club.

"Stef has been acting as a scout for me over in Italy. Now it appears he has scouted himself," said Smith.

"We all know what Stef did for Derby while he was here and it seemed the natural option.

"He helped to convince Fabrizio Ravanelli to come to Derby and now I am convinced that the pair can revive the kind of partnership Stef had with Francesco Baiano."
