Darlington promotion bid rests on winning form - Cooper

Darlington boss Mark Cooper has warned his players that they must put together a winning run or see their Blue Square Bet Premier promotion hopes slip away.

The Quakers are nine points off the play-offs, with two games in hand on Fleetwood who occupy the final place, but have drawn their last two matches.

Cooper told BBC Tees: "Sooner or later we've got to start winning two or three games on the trot to close the gap.

"We've got to win consecutive games and beat teams in and around us."

Tuesday's goalless draw with Mansfield Town was greeted by jeers from supporters at the end of the game, despite extending the club's unbeaten run to six games.

In response, Cooper has appealed to supporters to remain positive ahead of Saturday's home game against Kettering Town.

"Up until the other night the last few home games have been really entertaining," Cooper added.

"We've scored goals and played some good football, but it seemed as soon as we had a sticky term they were starting to turn.

"They've been fantastic in recent weeks, I just ask that they stay with us, it was never going to happen overnight and we're trying to get it right."
