Darlington manager Dave Penney has completed the signing of former Barnsley defender Neil Austin - his eighth summer capture.
Austin has agreed a two-year deal which will formally start on 1 July.
The 24-year-old, who can operate on either side of the defence, was released by Barnsley after starting almost 150 games for his hometown club.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Sam Russell, 24, has left the club after making more than 100 appearances for the Quakers.
