Darlington have signed striker Julian Joachim from Boston United for an undisclosed fee which the Quakers have said is in excess of £100,000.
Joachim has previously played for many clubs including Leeds United
The 31-year-old, who scored twice in Boston's 4-1 victory over Darlington at the weekend, was given permission to talk to the League Two side on Monday.
"Julian has played at the highest level in the English game," boss David Hodgson told Darlington's website.
"He is very fast and he has scored goals wherever he has been."
Darlington had a "formal offer" for the former Aston Villa, Leicester and Leeds man rejected last week, with Pilgrims boss Steve Evans stating the bid was a "sizeable five-figure-sum".
The Quakers have claimed that Joachim was also a target for their local rivals Hartlepool.
