Darlington reward pair

Darlington have rewarded summer signings Ashley Nicholls and Ryan Valentine with new, extended contracts at Feethams.

The duo moved to the Quakers on 12-month deals but have now signed up until June, 2004 with the option of a further year.

"We are delighted to have tied down these two youngsters on extended deals.

"They have both impressed and deserved the recognition of their value to us," caretaker-manager Mick Tait told the club's website.

Valentine, 20, joined Darlington from Everton and has been an ever-present in the Quakers defence in the Third Division.

Nicholls, 21, has scored four League goals in 14 starts since moving from Ipswich Town.
