Darren Ambrose has signed a new three-year contract with Crystal Palace.

The midfielder, who scored 22 goals to keep the Eagles in the Championship last season, had been heavily linked with a move to Queens Park Rangers.

But the 26-year-old has now put a stop to the talk and handed new Palace manager George Burley a welcome boost.

"It's been a hard few months with all the speculation about my future, but I am delighted to be signing the new contract," he told the club's website.

"I have always wanted to remain at this football club and I am pleased it is all resolved."

Burley, who gave Ambrose his League debut at Ipswich in 2002, added: "After all the speculation, it is great to see Darren sign and that is a great bonus for everyone at the football club."

QPR boss Neil Warnock recently raided his old club Palace to sign midfielder Shaun Derry and defender Clint Hill.
