Crystal Palace have signed Ipswich striker Alan Lee for a fee believed to be in the region of 600,000.

The 30-year-old has agreed a three-year deal and is set to be included in the squad to face Reading on Saturday.

Lee scored 31 league goals in 103 games at Ipswich after signing from Cardiff City in January 2006.

"Alan has been a fantastic servant for this club but the time is right to go our separate ways," Town manager Jim Magilton told his club's website.

Lee, who started his career as a trainee at Aston Villa, also had spells at Torquay and Burnley before making a real impact for the first time at Rotherham.

Thirty five league goals in 95 starts persuaded Cardiff City to sign him for 850,000 in August 2003 but he failed to secure a regular starting place and only scored 10 league goals in his two-and-a-half-year stay.
