Lawrence pens new Palace contract

Lawrence is delighted to be staying at Selhurst Park

Crystal Palace defender Matt Lawrence has signed a new contract to keep him at Selhurst Park until 2010.

Lawrence, 34, joined the Championship outfit in August 2006 for an undisclosed fee from Millwall.

"The discussions were very straightforward and there were no arguments or negotiations," he told the South London Press.

He started his career with Grays Athletic and also played for Wycombe Wanderers, Fulham and Millwall.

Lawrence added: "I'm more than fit enough to have another two years at this level.

"My agent just looked over the contract to check everything was in place and it was signed, simple as that."
