Trevor Francis switches jobs with Steve Bruce

Trevor Francis has been confirmed as Crystal Palace's new manager.

The former Birmingham City boss has signed a four-year deal at Selhurst Park.

Francis replaces Steve Bruce, who in turn is set to take Francis's former job at Birmingham City.

Bruce has effectively been frozen out at the club while he waits to be released from his contract to take over at Birmingham.

"After a difficult period for the club which was long and drawn out though controlled, I am very pleased to announce this appointment," said Palace chairman Simon Jordan.

"Trevor has a wealth of experience and knowledge of the First Division and a record that is second to none outside the Premiership.

"We look forward to resuming our progress to the Premier League.

"Throughout the duration of the process of selection Steve Kember and Terry Bullivant have been fully informed and fully involved and are delighted to be working with Trevor.

"Trevor has signed a four year contract in line with both Steve Kember and Terry Bullivant.

"We now look forward to a stable period of progress where the football will once again do the talking."

However, Francis can expect to have funds made available to him to buy new players.
