Crewe Alexandra are still waiting for a decision from Byron Moore on the offer of a two-year contract extension.

The 22-year-old striker's current deal officially ends on Thursday but a new contract was offered in November.

Manager Dario Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke: "The ball's in his court. I'm not quite sure he knows what he's going to do at the moment."

If Moore leaves the Alex will be entitled to a compensation fee as he is under the age of 24.

But Gradi added: "I had one scout make a call about Byron but no-one has followed it up so I have written it off."

He is now waiting to see whether Moore reports for the start of pre-season training on Friday.

Meanwhile, Gradi expects to hear confirmation that last season's top scorer Clayton Donaldson has signed for League Two champions Chesterfield within the next few days.
