Shaun Miller happy to be role model at Crewe Alexandra

Crewe striker Shaun Miller has said he is happy to give advice to the younger professionals trying to force their way into the Alex first team.

At the age of 23, Miller is one of the most experienced players in Dario Gradi's squad at Gresty Road.

Miller told BBC Radio Stoke: "It's a really young squad and I'm sure a lot of them will be looking to me.

"I'll be trying to help them along as well. I'd like to think they would listen to me if I told them anything."

Alsager-born Miller scored 19 goals last season and formed a very profitable strike partnership with Clayton Donaldson.

However, they could not propel the Alex into the League Two play-offs as they finished 10th, three points short of seventh place.

Although the team failed with their main objective, Miller was satisfied with his achievements last season.

"I played more games than I've played before and certainly scored more than I have before," added Miller, who has scored 37 goals in 143 appearances for Crewe.

"I would have liked to have got to 20 goals, having got so close, but I think getting 19 was fairly successful."
