Away results must improve - Crewe assistant Steve Davis

Crewe Alexandra assistant manager Steve Davis says the team must rectify their shocking away record if they are to challenge for promotion next season.

Crewe go into the final game of the season at Bradford on the back of 11 away defeats in a row.

Davis told BBC Radio Stoke: "If we'd done better away from home we could be celebrating a top three or a play-off place now,"

The Railwaymen's last away success came on 3 January at Shrewsbury Town.

Crewe have won just four away games in the league all season and have conceded the most goals [46] on their travels in the division.

"Our home form has been excellent, but we'd be six to eight points better off if we'd shown up better away.

"If we're going to be promotion contenders next season then we've got to improve on that away form," added Davis.
