Crewe Alexandra manager Dario Gradi has revealed that the club are planning to relay the pitch at their Gresty Road ground at the end of the season.
Gradi complained about the state of the playing surface following the 1-1 draw against Gillingham on Saturday.
He told BBC Radio Stoke: "There's no point having a lot of good players and poor pitches for them to play on.
"We've got plans to improve it at the end of the season, but until now and then we're stuck with it."
Gradi continued: "In this day and age, all the pitches are much better than they used to be, so we should have a decent pitch.

"The groundsman has been asked to come up with a suggestion that's going to give us a good pitch and that's what he's done.
"He's looked around various firms and he's come up with what he wants us to do."
The Alex have a good home record in League Two this season, winning seven and drawing four of their 14 home games.
Nine of their remaining 17 league matches are at Gresty Road, including the game against Stevenage on Saturday.
